Jamie Wilson

James (“Jamie”) T. Wilson, loving father, devoted husband, kind-hearted brother, and thoughtful son, died unexpectedly June 8th, 2024. He was named after his late grandfather, James McCourt, who served in the Royal Air Force during WWII.

Save for a brief time in the San Francisco Bay Area during the final year of his father’s US Coast Guard career in 1976, Jamie grew up and lived in Williamsburg, VA until his graduation from college. In his youth Jamie became a fixture of the William & Mary Tribe football team over many years. A lifelong sports fan, and near-savant with football knowledge in particular, Jamie began his affiliation with the Tribe while in junior high as a ball boy during home games. Jamie was named the assistant equipment manager for the team in high school and began traveling to away games. Well-loved by both players and coaching staff, Jamie ultimately attended William & Mary continuing his long association with Tribe football and graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing.

Jamie’s love of sports transcended William & Mary, and he soon found himself in the equipment department of the former Washington Redskins. Jamie ultimately left his role in the NFL and pivoted toward a career in business aviation. After briefly working for a specialty branch of Enterprise Rent-A-Car focused on business aviation at Dulles International Airport (IAD), he joined the former fixed-base operator Piedmont-Hawthorne Aviation at IAD, becoming Customer Service Manager in 1998.

Over the span of more than 25 years, Jamie held various roles in the business aviation industry to include Customer Service Manager, Assistant General Manager, and General Manager of Landmark Aviation at Dulles. Jamie also briefly worked in the Charter/Aircraft Management division of Landmark before leaving for Concept Solutions, a contractor to the Federal Aviation Administration. During his career with FBO Partners, Jamie worked as a Senior Associate on several wide-ranging and complex issues affecting the FBO industry. His work at FBO Partners led to enduring changes in FBO landscape at major airports across the country that will last for decades. A staunch advocate in all his endeavors, he generously volunteered his time with the Greater Washington Business Aviation Association (GWBAA), where he served for years, including as President.

Jamie is best remembered as a kind-hearted soul who truly cared for others and gave generously of his time. He was a proud father of his children and supported them always; a devoted husband who adored and deeply loved his wife; an older brother who was both a guardian angel and counselor, and a son whose care for his parents and family ran deep.

An annual scholarship in Jamie’s name is offered through the Greater Washington Business Aviation Association (GWBAA), made possible through the financial commitment of FBO Partners and other donors, is available to those pursuing a career in the FBO industry.
